Off-grid sky-view Igloo/Dome set right by the riverside in North Iceland. Rustic and simple, with peaceful surroundings and beautiful views—perfect for watching the Northern Lights or the midnight sun while listening to the gentle flow of the river.The spaceIt’s a very simple, cozy little space Geodesic dome igloo styled. The main area has a big, comfortable bed made from reclaimed Icelandic wood from the local forest, giving the room a warm and natural feel reminiscent of a hobbit hole (we are big fans of Tolkien). The dome has electricity, but is not connected to running water. On one side of the main area, you’ll find a basic kitchen corner equipped with a glass water container with fresh water 10L and a small sink — just keep in mind the water supply is limited. The kitchen also has a coffee machine, a water boiler, a toaster, and all the everyday essentials like cutlery, cups, and plates, so you can make yourself right at home.CAUTION: no shower or running water. Tiny bathroom – RV Eco ToiletWhen you step inside, there’s a small entryway with a bench where you can sit and take off your shoes and coats, plus a little spot to keep your luggage tucked away. Just across from the entrance is a tiny bathroom with an off-grid toilet — simple but functional. We do not have shower, but we can recommend a lot of good pools and hot springs nearby.Guest accessThe dome/ingloo is located in a small village called Árskógssandur — which loosely translates to River-Forest-Sand. It’s sort of a fitting name which describes the surroundings. When you drive towards the village, take the first right turn and continue for about 600 meters. You’ll then see another right turn marked with the sign Árbakki. Follow that road to the very end, where you’ll come across a white house and a few parked cars. There will be a sign showing you exactly where to park.From there, you’ll have access to a wheelbarrow or a sled (depending on the season) to help carry your luggage. It’s about a 100-meter walk down toward the river where the dome is tucked away.
